MILLIE DAVIS
a2 media studies
Below shows a video I created using a "Aputure Amaran Halo Light".
I did this to show the difference between using a simple lighting piece of equipment vs. no lighting. Because the piece of equipment is so simple, it will be a lot easier to use during filming as I am going to various different locations and will need something light and easy to take with me rather than 3 point lighting. The video also shows an element of editing to the beat of music. I did this to practise my editing skills for the final music video. It is essential that I am fully organised and prepared for my reshoot in Peckham Car Park so that this time I won't have any problems with the footage.
I find that by keeping a diary for this music video, I can write down a list of the shots that I liked in the previous shoot that I will have to reshoot so I do not forget anything. I also wrote down a list of new shots that I want to get that I missed out in my last shoot or thought of in the space of time between then and now. Furthermore, I have made a note of the extra equipment that I am going to bring with me on the shoot, for example, lighting, which is now necessary for this shoot in order for the footage to not be dark and grainy.
Below shows a video explaining some of the problems with the footage that I got from the shoot in Peckham Car Park. I have decided I am going to go back and reshoot everything with the new knowledge and skills I have learnt about the camera and about lighting.
For the first day of shooting, I vlogged the day which includes preparing to leave for the shoot, in the car on the way, arriving at the location and various issues we came across throughout the day.
I have created a professional shot list to organise and prepare me for future filming days. In this way, I will not be unsure of what shots I need to film on the day and what locations to go too.
Georgie Mullock is the actress that I have casted for the role of the girl in the relationship. Georgie has experience with acting as I casted her for a role with elements of love and relationships last year, therefore I know she will feel comfortable with this role. Georgie is also very flexible to work with, therefore I will not have any issues with filming dates. Below shows an image of Georgie that already exists and arrows pointing to certain features that add to the whole depth of the character, which are further reasons as to why I cast her. Stuart Smillie is the actor that I have casted for the male role in the relationship. Stuart also has experience with acting as he did drama GCSE and has been/is staring in various school productions. Stuart is also very flexible to work with and available, meaning there will be no issues with filming dates.
Below shows an image of Stuart that already exists and arrows pointing to certain features that add to the whole depth of the character, which are further reasons as to why I cast him. Below shows an image of a brainstorm that I did of different couples I know that could potentially be casted for the music video. However, a problem that I have found is that it is difficult for both couples to be free at the same time. For example, Elle has a job and so cannot do weekends however Max is free. Grace said that she could do a few weekends if I really needed help, however Gabe is very busy with school work. I have come to the conclusion that it is best to mix and match or use people that are not in relationships, so that casting is less of a hassle. Georgie and Olivia are potential castings for the role of the girl in the relationship as they both have blonde hair, and I am good friends with them, therefore I know that they will be reliable. Connie could also potentially play the role of the girl alongside her boyfriend Will, although she does not have blonde hair and so does not fit the image that I want to portray. Max, Jack, Milo, Stuart and Daniel are potential castings for the male role. They are all friends with Georgie and Olivia so they will feel comfortable around each other. Milo is not so keen to do this as he was the male role in a short film I made last year and doesn't really want to do it again. To narrow down which male I will cast I am going to ask them questions such as if they will feel comfortable smoking/drinking and how much time they have on their hands. I will also ask them to perform a scene with my final casted girl so that I can see which couple have the most chemistry. Below shows a storyboard of rough ideas of what I want my music video to look like, including the shot types, movements and the shot length.
This will help me when shooting the real thing so I know what I am trying to achieve, although this may change whilst on set due to new ideas or even location issues. |
